Who Am I?

Madeleine Beaupré

I am a UX/UI designer living in Toronto. I enjoy using graphic design and illustration to help brands and products look their best, talking to users and stakeholders to identify underlying problems, and discover creative approaches to design solutions. I also know when it’s not time to reinvent the wheel!

I’ve worked with cross-disciplinary teams to build new features and improve old ones on complex software serving multiple user types with assorted clients, each with their own niche market applications and branding needs.

Some other things I’ve done that don’t always make the cut on a two-page resume:

  • Been a historical interpreter at a living history museum; baking cookies and tending fires in 1860s clothing and teaching visitors about tinsmithing

  • Created a blog with my friend where we reviewed local comic book stores

  • Planned and co-ran an academic conference

  • Volunteered at the Toronto Zoo, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and small press and comic book events

  • Worked as a first aid attendant at a children’s splash pad

  • Created logos and branding packages

  • Learned about accessibility for both physical and neurological conditions through friends, family, and personal experience

  • Daily reflections and iterations on improving the user experience of a small child in order to achieve required outcomes (such as: eating, getting dressed, brushing teeth/bathing, getting to school on time, allotting the right amount of time for activities such as outdoor play vs screentime, etc).

These experiences inform who I am and how I see problems, provide insight into how people think and behave, and have helped cultivate my skill of using empathy and curiosity to identify underlying problems before trying to solve them.

When I’m not working or parenting, I love a good sci-fi or period piece TV show/movie, listening to podcasts or music on a nice walk, and advocating for climate action and more bike lanes.
